From a 1933 radio promo announcing the Marx Brothers film of the year, this is a somewhat different version, lacking the final verse as used in the film but adding a bridge in the middle plus a wholly instrumental finale.

Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band - The Alternate Decals
somehow I always end up watching this in the middle of the night. it's certainly an experience
Vaslav Nijinsky was a genius artist, not only a ballet dancer...
I want my quarter back
This is a fittingly violent dance for a violent piece of music. The entire theme is violence. The music is violent. The overblown woodwinds and heavily attacked strings does violence to the instruments and the players. The theme of the ballet being dancing oneself to death is so *punk*. And metaphorically kicking over the garbage cans by basically inventing modern dance for it is what makes this whole experience the best thing to me.
Taken from their album English Settlement. For me the best album of XTC (double album in the UK with the amazing track It's nearly Africa. Terry Chambers is a very good drummer).
19:25 *record scratch* *freeze frame* Yep, that's me. You're probably wondering how I got here
I also saw them in May 1982 at Lancaster University. One of my favourite bands back then.
I can’t stop watching this
GENIUS
And to think this (now ) classic caused a riot at its premier. Wonderful performance and the Nijinsky really used the music well, which, as a composer, I really appreciate. Thanks!
And here we are now with AI music made by text prompts being a thing. Some TV shows have intro songs clearly made by AI nowadays. They're not good, but they serve their purpose. It's a shame. Roger Scruton said: "Beauty is assailed from two directions - by the cult of ugliness in the arts, and by the cult of utility in everyday life".
❤
Wonderful to see the original choreography. The original Parisian audience must’ve been shocked.
I remember my Music teacher showing us this back when I was in 5th grade now after 12th I’ve found it because it was mentioned in another video I always knew what the name was but I couldn’t get it
Was hemp legal back then, because they sure are acting stoned

I first heard the music here, and then I listened to it without the foot stomping, and it just wasn't the same...

I was lucky enough to see this in San Francisco.
For reasons which I can't explain (not that I don't want to, but that words fail me), this is very moving. 1913! For 10 years I lived about 100m from the very place where it all happened. MANY thanks to M Hodson for her extraordinary work!
That moment when you don’t see one single dinosaur or volcano.
My god, this is terrifying - to think that this was the reality of many ancient civilizations. Reminds me of the Aztec rituals. The prima ballerina did a great job conveying the feeling of terror, of being overpowered. Poor girl.

Oh of course they used this for drakengard. It all makes sense now
This comes off more like a Spike Jones composition.
Awesome tune, rare recording. Cool man cool.
touchstone
Plot twist: no records were harmed in the make of this commmercial
Gotta love the Dsus2 chord when she drops, the chord is literally spelled out D E A D
He’d sure hate Spotify and UA-cam.
La meilleure chorégraphie jamais vue en ce qui me concerne (et j'en ai vu bien d'autres). Merci beaucoup et salutations de Montréal, Qc, Canada
The music was just too clever too be understood by the masses , that's why they audience looks like WTF is this shit ! ! ! BETTER THAN THE BEATLES ! ! ! ! BEST BAND IN THE HISTORY OF NOISE ! ! ! PERIOD ! .
agreed
Зачем вырезали вступление ко второму действию? Это был самый красивый эпизод😢
Nice gig.
This version is much closer to the original story. The versions of Bejart and Pausch in comparison seem to be just saloon dancing.
Beautiful song, just can't explain ...
Thank god he never got to listen to & watch KISS.
Best song ever, with Dave and his frilly cravat and superb Georgian coat. Oh, the 60s - we had it all.
Spike Jones in stereo!
Sounds like a good name for a recipe, Chicken Pizzicato!
